Training Schools

AusWest Seeds agronomy support extends to running training schools for seed retailers agronomists and sales staff. These schools are run in association with major seed companies and agronomists as guest speakers.

Participants are provided basic training and the latest trends in pasture establishment together with varietal information on recently released and yet to be released cultivars. Cultivar updates on pulse and cereal varieties are also available.

AusWest Seeds sow demonstration blocks to allow seed sales staff and end users to become familiar with new varieties. This is done in conjunction with seed retailers and major seed companies to ensure a balanced presentation of information. Local farmers are invited to attend field days at these sites, thus providing relevant information to end users.

We just don’t believe what we read, we like to see it for ourselves, and if we are goGriffith Field Daying to recommend a product we must first have full confidence in its performance.

Over the past few years resellers have been selected to attend an international study tour to New Zealand.  Many New Zealand seed companies are major producers and breeders of temperate pasture seed. Visits to the Canterbury region of New Zealand allow resellers to see the extent of the breeding programs in place  to produce quality pasture seed also giving them understanding of proprietary products  versus public varieties in terms of pricing, backup service and quality. Seed crops and various farms are visited thus enabling resellers to get an on farm look at how the seeds are produced as well as some of the best management techniques. Response from resellers that have attended these study tour always comment on the confidence about selling products now they have an in depth knowledge of the product.

The seed growing areas of  south east South Australia have also been  visited by bus trips of resellers, this area allows participants to get a better understanding of seed breeding and production.
